This breed originated in America in the 1870s. They are dual purpose, meaning they are used for both their amazing egg laying abilities, and their meaty bodies. They are a friendly breed, and are great for beginners, or the most experienced chicken owners.
I have 3 Wyandotte’s currently, 2 hens and 1 rooster. The hens are very different from each other. One is the most docile bird I own, and the other is pretty skiddish. I love them and hope to get more in the future.
