Pros: Affordable with a good list of ingredients
Cons: Not easily obtained on the West Coast
Before the World Wide Web gave me access to finding this supplement again, it was obtained from a few local feed stores. It was used by a respected elder who raised poultry back in the day. He always had shiney, healthy birds. I am glad to see Dawe's Labs are still around. They have been in the business a long time.
Pros: Fast absorption
Cons: Lacking in B vitamins, iodine, and liver support/detox such as thioctic acid or choline.
This product is based on the black vitamin solution used by game fowl enthusiasts for many years. It is a good basic supplement for weak chicks suffering from shipping stress or older fowl needing a lift during moult to help encourage appetite. It is a good individual treatment but doesn't have the profile of nutrients some soluble powders have, which are used for flock treatment. It helps a basic nutrient deficiency, but is not a blood builder.

Pros: Highly effective against scaly leg mites
Cons: Unpleasant scent. Wear surgical gloves :)
I have used this product a number of times over the years. It will cure scaly leg mites when applied properly and massaged into scales on the bird's legs. It must be done a couple times a week, likely more often for severe cases. Apply it in the early evening when birds get on their roosts. It then has time to absorb over night and less litter/dirt will stick to their legs.
Pros: Feed adjustment done with cotter pin placement instead of springs that give out. Thick center steel rod.
Cons: Lids should accompany feeder instead of being a separate cost.
Like most Kuhl products, their hanging feeders are top notch quality.
Pros: Curious, fast growing, friendly
Cons: Good flyers so a covered run is preferred unless one wants to clip wings.
I'll post more of what I witness as my chicks mature. So far I am pleased with the health and vitality of these chicks.
Pros: Cheap and affordable
Cons: There's nothing healthy about GMO foods.
Purina is one of the few companies that refuse to produce an organic line of feeds. They are like many that hire scientists to do their own research and feed trials. Independent research feed trials performed longer than a 90 day period reveal that GMO toxins penetrate cells and damage reproductive systems of animals. Cancer is also linked to these toxins. They are not a trustworthy company.
