She was a very healthy and strong hen before her frostbite injuries, and I think that's a big reason she recovered.

Thank you both for complimenting my dog Rango. @Sara S , I got my avatar dog at the farmers market where I sold eggs. He cost a whopping 20 dollars. It's not the cost (or breed) that makes a great chicken guardian; it is their innate temperament plus the time and effort you put into their training. I wish you success in finding your own flock guardian.

Thank you! He's half Pyrenese and half Anatolian Shepherd. He's a great dog. Very sweet temperment, but keeps the chickens safe from predators. His name is Rango. Like the sheriff from the movie.
