All 3 today! This weekend is supposed to be cool, spring-like weather for a change, and I plan to spend as many daylight hours as possible either with the chickens or in the garden :)

2 today, from Juin and Juillet. We had big storms last night, and you know what that means… big puddles! They’ve been feasting on worms all day long. I also gave them the bug eaten collard and kale leaves from the garden, so they got their meat and their veggies :)

3 again today! Juin is going to have laid a month straight soon. I always feel better when they take days off regularly, but I’m grateful nonetheless for all these cute beige eggs :)

I also believe it’s a cockerel. Here is my Blue Cuckoo Marans pullet at the same age, to compare: Her comb only started turning pink at around 10 weeks old.

I’m thinking those are walnut combs, like you’d find on a Silkie. Walnut would make sense genetically if it was an EE hen crossed with a rooster that had a rose comb, but I’m assuming that it was the same rooster who sired Fuzzyfoot. His mom was likely a Marans based on the brown speckled egg...
