I love this and it helped me when I was hatching my call ducklings
Sadly out of 17 eggs 1 made it the rest died mostly on hatching day, some hatched and died
But we found the one duckling Jonny (who turned out to be a girl) some friends buttercup and Puddle (who turned out to be boys)
Thank you for this post :hugs

Thank you for the great article! We have someone asking about assisting with a duck egg and I searched articles to find a good one to refer him to, and found yours. I shared it with them. Thank you!

Thank you so much! I’m halfway through my first call duck hatch and will be referring back to this article. I love the photos and clear explanation. Can I please also double check when you stop turning the eggs if you’re checking internal pip from day 23?

If I see an internal pip, I stop turning all the eggs. :)
I’m a first timer here with ducks in general. 4 out of 5 of my hatchlings made it out without any problems. The 5th egg was a little smaller and was also taking a bit longer than the others. I noticed he had internally pipped but I was so scared to harm him if he just needed some time. I gave him a good 48 hours before helping him with a tiny hole to breathe. Still no progress from there so I step by step followed your instructions. After pulling the membrane back for the second time, I came back home a few hours later to the little guy resting in the incubator. I gave him some sugar water and he’s back getting warm for the rest of the night. So, thank you so much for this article! I’m hoping things continue to progress from here!
Wonderful tried and true article that I always keep handy to reference whenever I'm hatching Call Ducks. I really love how this article is written for Calls specifically since they can be difficult to hatch. Well written and step by step info is so helpful. Thank you for this wonderful article BB&T 😍

If the hole was not poked into the egg, assisting would not likely be needed

You've never hatched call ducks apparently, and hide behind an anonymous name. Have a good day.
I’m so glad one of the BYC members shared this with me! I have three call duck eggs in my incubator, and I’m definitely hoping they will make it! I feel more prepared for them when they get ready to hatch! Thank you for taking the time to write this out! And thank you @HeatherKellyB for sharing it!!!!
Very helpful information and just in time as my first call ducks are due in 2 weeks!!!!
This will definitely come in handy. I frequently hatch call ducklings and I sometimes wonder about a general timeline and what exactly to do next. This article thoroughly explains the assisting process specific to Calls and further illustrates each step with pictures. I will be sure to refer to it next hatch! :clap
