Hi everyone!
I recently hatched 6 lil chicks and today I noticed one of them has injured its beak.
I will attach photo to this post.
I cleaned it with some water and isolated him from rest of the chicks as they were pecking at it and possibly making it worse. There wasn't blood or anything in the brooder. He's also eating and drinking like normal and doesn't seem to be in any pain or lethargic.
Only problem now is I'm not sure how serious this injury is? Also the little chick seems very upset that he's not with his siblings and keeps trying to jump into the other box. I'll attach a photo of the setup we have for them

It looks like the chick might have burnt it's beak. Are there any hot rods or anything hot at all that was low enough to touch it's beak?

I had a few chicks in my first batch burn the tops of their beaks on a heating plate because they were being pushed up to where their beaks touched the hot part so I raised it up. They all healed nicely, but theirs was very small.

Try putting some Neosporin and/or vaseline on it. The only thing I can think of is it being a burn.
