Hey all,

I’m stuck on what breed this bird could be. She was a free “meal maker chick” from Meyer hatchery. She hatched on March 25th if anyone else might have got one like her or has one that could help me solve the mystery it would be awesome! She has a single straight comb, clean legs.
I thought a buckeye but the comb is wrong, and the white feather tips stirred me away from RIR. Her feathers seem to be kind of lifted at the ends but not frizzle like

Rhode Island Red.
The whitish tips is just due to juvenile plumage. It'll molt out, & be solid red.

Hi, hope you're enjoying BYC! :frow

That's juvenile plumage that's still gonna change some more. The white tips will likely go away as well as the wileyness, in my experience. I'd not rule out RIR just yet.

Other possibilities might be production type red, red sex link, or new hapmshire. I'm not sure what all Meyer's has available.

The yellow shanks give clear indicator as to some things it's not.
