It would just give different shades, so brown shade doesn't really matter much. I was originally wanting to use dark brown for deep olive, & possibly grey eggs. But your typical brown egg wouldn't do the job?

So cool! So I just did a breeding with our fibro EE too fly by night and his babies are mixed with silkys so I am so curious what he will throw to them! We have no idea what flu but night is but on here I got some answers of him being a fibromelonistic Columbian EE. Here is his picture and here are some of his babies we are not sure if they are male or female yet but we are hoping to get atleast some hens to see what he throws for egg coloring ….. the mamas have cream white small silk eggs. Here is mama a paint silky and dad fly by night he was dropped off here at our coop one night it would be cool to have colored eggs from the silky mixes! We will c and than maybe breed back to eachother or somethingFibro Easter Egger started laying today. Now I know she lays a colored egg, I can breed her to the silkies.View attachment 3357588

Imma try it in the spring ! Sorry if I repeated pics I’m excited to see what this will become ! I love the idea of having silky colored eggs !!!I've seen your birds.
Well to get back the Silkie plumage, breeding the offspring together, or back to the mother, or both ways would do so.
Sounds good.Imma try it in the spring ! Sorry if I repeated pics I’m excited to see what this will become ! I love the idea of having silky colored eggs !!!
You got to tell me how this went! This is my goal currently because colored laying silkies would be amazing! I have some whiting true blues I'm going to cross with my Frizzle rooster. I'm also going to cross some Silverrudds blues that lay speckled moss eggs!Hello, gonna be creating silkies that lay colored eggs, besides white, tinted, & cream.
These are to not be confused with Silkied Easter Eggers.
These will have all the traits of a Silkie, but will lay different colored eggs.
Egg colors to be expected: Original, white, tinted, cream. (Colored Eggs: Green, Olive Green, Brown, Chocolate Brown, Blue, Turquoise, Light Blue, Light Green, Mint Chip, Minty, Pastel Greens, Plum, & pink.
These are gonna be of Large Fowl variety.
Order for the Breeding project:
Silkie X Easter Egger X Silkie
Silkie X Black Copper Marans X Silkie
Then breed these first couple mixes together.
Here's a couple egg color charts.
