ARE AUTHENTIC MERRIAM’S WILD TURKEY POULTS

** QTY 6 MIN ***

FROM A EXPERIENCED BREEDER RAISING HIGH QUALITY POULTRY IN AN ‘PAMPERED’ ENVIRONMENT WITH PROVEN RESULTS.

Pampered Poultry of Georgia (NPIP certified) is proud to offer 6 VERY RARE Merriam’s Wild Turkey poults These birds are extremely hard to find in captivity. We have worked very diligently over the past 5 years to build what we think is some of the best genetics in our flock. We have built an established reputation with our birds and proud ourselves in providing unparallel quality. Our expertise is strictly in Merriam’s and do not raise any other sub-species of turkey. You can be 100% assured that you have no cross breeding.

Our flock is strictly feed Purina Feed along with Oyster Grit and other vitamins to insure a healthy flock. Our coup is 100% covered, heated roosts, padded nests, lighted pens, automated 100 Micron filtered waterer and feeder to provide the upmost comfort to our turkeys. We believe a happy and healthy turkey lays the best quality eggs which in turn produce healthy poults.

Unlike the other Merriam’s Wild Turkey poults that you might see listed on various other sites, we can assure you our flock is NPIP, given the best feed/vitamins, received filtered water, and are nurtured in a coop that we proudly say creates the most pampered environment for our birds. People who visit the farm are amazed at the detail and the expense in creating such a Taj Mahal for our turkeys – but we are proud of our birds and want our customers to receive the highest quality bird available.

When I have guest out to the farm buying chickens or sheep, the Merriams catch the attention of people and we talk quite about this breed. Authentic Merriam’s Wild Turkeys are clearly distinguished from the Eastern and Rio Grande by the nearly white to light buff feathers on their lower back and tail feather margins. These turkeys are primarily found in the western United States in the New Mexico and Arizona region. The beauty and statue of these birds are simply amazing!

***Please note that the pictures posted are from the actual stock – BEWARE of other breeders who do not post actual stock photos and claim to have this breed!!***

FUN FACTS - DID YOU KNOW?????

Male wild turkeys have the ability to change the color of their head and neck to bright red, blue and white. During the breeding season, the male turkey displays to attract females and to advertise dominance over subordinate males within the flock or their territory.

Wild turkeys can fly for short distances at speeds up to 55 miles per hour. On the ground they can reach speeds of 25 miles per hour.

Turkeys have great hearing , but no external ears. They have a field of vision of about 270 degrees and are able to see in color. They can see movement almost a hundred yards away. They don't see well at night. They have a poor sense of smell, but a good sense of taste.

Benjamin Franklin wanted to make the wild turkey, not the Bald Eagle, the national bird of the United States.
