Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States that is observed on the last Monday in May. It is a day set aside to remember and honor the men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. military. This day has its roots in the post-Civil War era, when people would decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers and flags. Today, Memorial Day is observed with parades, memorial services, and other activities to honor the sacrifices of our brave service members.
