Helping duck preene

I have a pet duck who lives in my house and has a malformed formed beak from birth. She has trouble preening herself because of her beak and now has old feather shafts around her new feathers on her wings. Trying to find a way to remove the old shafts without hurting her.

Can you post a picture of your duck? If she’s molting, the old feather shafts should just fall out. Or they should slip out when she’s taking a dust bath.

Ducks don’t take dust bathes but your right they should just fallout as molt progresses.

Sorry I had no idea that ducks didn’t dust bathe! I’m used to chickens.

I have chickens too and so far they haven’t taught the ducks to dust bathe lol
Ducks bathe but it’s water water water and more water
