I am coming to the end of my first year of hatching chickens (silver laced WY) and Turkeys (Blue's) from home grown eggs.

The chickens have been a huge success with about a 75 percent average live birth rate, the turkeys have been an almost total failure ( 6 alive, 2 dead after hatching and 10 or so no shows)

I have heard from a local farmer that turkeys in general are difficult to hatch and frustrating.
Sorry, don't have any stats for you on hatching, just wanted to throw that out there for what its worth...

I have heard the same at the local Co-OP, no one had hatching rates to speak of, just a general "turkey's are lower then chickens".

Advice on the humidity in the bator was suggested to be the main cause, however no general thought on what that should be.
