there rounded like a hen.

Well, I seem to have come up rooster surprised as well. Had bought a few PULLETS from a local gal and ONE Easter Egger Rooster. Was surprised by two things.
1. I had an extra
2. That this one might be a transvestite as the two roosters ALWAYS hang out together and never have a squabble.
3. That the smaller gold rooster is the dominant one and has begun to crow - albeit quietly and only when the hens get an unsuspected visitor. The larger rooster has been mute.
4. Recently another HEN to be is becoming another rooster. Pictures will explain. Last picture is one of my favorite hens.
Did lose one chicken to the unknown and it was one of my black Cuckoo Maran's - suggesting that camouflage earth colors are the way to go, not black or white chickens. No feather hit that would indicate an eagle or hawk attack, nor where they out so a dog could have nabbed her. Mystery.
