So I posted awhile back about these pullets (hopefully!!) and I’m wondering if they are filled out enough to see any telltale signs of possible breeds? They are now 10 weeks old. I have determined that the Mother was a Blue Cochin (LF) and we are guessing the fathers were either a Black Frizzle Cochin, a BCM, a Lansghan, or an Isbar. She also has Ameraucanas and Chocolate/Mauve Orpingtons but we don’t think they were involved according to the breeder. But it’s always possible 😂

The first 4 pics are of the Splash pullet—it’s tough to see but her legs are a very light gray grading into pink toes and feet. She does have a few random leg feathers, but they are not growing in much yet.

The next three are of the black extra feathery legged pullet. Her feathers are very significant on her legs and her feet are almost black.

And the last 4 pictures are of the blue pullet that has some copper feathers coming in around the neck and some random black leakage. Her legs are slate colored and have limited leg feathers as well. I’m assuming the copper coloring is indicative of a BCM? But I expected more leg feathering since her BCMs are French and feather legged.

I honestly only want to know out of sheer curiosity and learning breed traits! Also so I can guess egg colors 😆

Thanks for any help! :)

I definitely see the Cochin in them, the 4th one looks a little orpington to me. But I'm no expert...
Which one looks Orpington like to you? The splash colored girl? I have wondered if it’s possible that she might be part Orpington. Her face looks Orp-y but her body is so long and narrow…she’s also really skittish :-(

They are developing nicely! Still going with my first guesses on your earlier post, BCM dad for the black one and possibly Silverudds Blue (proper name for Isbar) dad for the blue and splash. Their fuller body they could definitely have gotten from their cochin mama.🥰
You might have to wait for eggs to be certain.😊

Thank you! They really are so pretty! I didn’t really think about the Cochin part making them larger. That totally makes sense haha. I started wondering if the black one was more Langshan because of the tail shape…I probably won’t ever know for certain. Both BCM and Langshan lay dark brown and Cochin lay light brown…so I should get a nice average brown egg haha. The blue hen has me the most confused because I totally agree with you that she looks more Silverrudd than any of the other breeds…but she’s the only one getting some copper coloring around her neck like a BCM! Plus she has some very interesting random black leakage in her feathers. Many of the feathers have black veins too. And my pure bred BCM pullet has no copper coming in at all 😆😆 I wish I didn’t have to wait another 3 months before they consider laying…clearly you can tell I’m very impatient 😂 I really wanted a green egg layer 😆 perhaps I could incubate my Lavender Ameraucana eggs when they’re old enough to hang with my LO rooster boy 😍 I would LOVE to have Eevee babies, he’s the best boy! Thanks for always being so helpful with all my breed questions 😆 youre very patient hehe

Waiting for those eggs is like waiting for Christmas as a kid!😊
My little 4 month old Silverudds/EE cross has started to comb up more and she’s letting the little cockerel mount her, so I’m expecting eggs from her any minute!🤣
Another one of mine that I wasn’t 100% sure of parentage, I believe has started laying, but I still don’t know which egg is hers! Part of the fun of having chickens, they keep you guessing!

It’s so true! It totally feels like waiting for Christmas 😆 and costs about the same too! Hahaha. Your little Silverudd mix does look a lot like my blue girl! She’s very pretty!

Figuring out who laid what will be the next thing to drive me crazy haha. They do keep you guessing! 😍
