Hi
I have a two year old cream legbar who seems to have lost her sight in the last couple of weeks. I have attached photos of her eyes as I don’t think (and hope) it is Mareks. The iris has no grey colour to it.
She is healthy otherwise not displaying the usual hunched tail down look of a poorly hen and she must be eating as she doesn’t feel to have lost weight and if she wasn’t drinking I think she would be dead by now.
I am feeding her extra on her own and she eats that fine once she has located the dish by pecking the air until she is low enough to reach it.
Her pupils are equal and react to light ( I worked as a neuro nurse) which is odd if she is totally blind so hopefully she can see enough to have a quality of life.
I am thinking she will adapt with a bit of tlc ?

Provide her feed and water in a consistent, readily accessible place, monitor for bullying, protect from predators, and she can still have a good quality life.

:thumbsup:thumbsup thank you thats what i thought and i have seen her drink twice today in with the flock so she knows where the water is and her crop seemed full tonight when she went to bed. to be honest she was a bit more flighty tonight, which is normal for her and makes me think she can see me a bit better today :idunno:D
