3 day old ducklings not under heat

My ducklings are three days old. I have a brooder plate for them however they aren’t sleeping under it. It is 83, in my mud room where they are set up. Are they warm enough? Hell are they too warm?

Just leave it in there so they can use it if needed . Have you tucked them under? I had to tuck mine under at first.

Yes. They spent most of their time under there the first couple of days.

When I got my ducks this year, I was astonished at how soon they didn't need extra heat compared to chickens. If they aren't panting and aren't dog piled, they likely feel okay

Mine even preferred to lay on top more than under.

They dogpile still, just not under the brooder plate. They can’t seem to leave each other alone. They even push eachother out of the way to eat or drink from the same spot despite having round drinking and water containers. They’ve been a joy to watch!
