My new polish chick is extremely distressed. Nonstop chirping, very loud. Every time we open up the top of the cage she quickly tries to jump out. She is not hot, and she is not cold. Already tried that. She only has 1 silkie for company. The silkie is 100% fine. We're not sure what to do. We've given her mirrors and stuffed animals in case she was lonely. She was fine when we took her from the breeder today so it's not an illness. What can I do to calm her down?

Thank you.

How old is this little one and how was she housed at the breeder's place?

She is 3 weeks old, and I'm not sure how she was housed because when we arrived the breeder had already moved her to a cardboard box.

She's still chirping

EDIT:

She's still chirping, but it seems as though she's accepting the silkie, she's laying down next to her now. Perhaps this is improvement.

Chick are like any other animals thay are social I would recommend getting it a play mate unless you have alot of time to spend with it

She has the sweetest little silkie as a playmate. I also have 6 other chicks but they are much older and bigger, and are separate. The silkie loves her but the polish does not love the silkie.

She is back to the beginning, constantly running around and chirping.

Being a bit older it is likely a reaction to the change of setting and separation from the birds she had with her at the previous location. As a social animal, she has bonded to the birds she was kept with and associates them as her flock - being removed from them and put in a new setting leaves her feeling a little lost and she is calling to those missing flock mates.

Should I be concerned, or will she be ok?

Thank you so much.

She'll settle in - it sounds like she is starting to already. I would keep an eye on her just to be safe and respond to any changes that could indicate something more serious.

Im sure she will settle in with a little time anytime I introduce new birds it takes a adjusting period it can be a rough week but then everything fine good lucky
