Had I known what I know now I'd have known he was a boy from day one. Apparently that mix sex links (silkie over japanese bantam ). Girls have black legs, boys yellow.

I have a roo like that. He was about 2 weeks old when it was obvious that he was a roo. Mr. Obvious became his name. :D

Have a funny for you all. My brother was talking to his dad about his EE starting laying and that she lays the cutest green eggs. His dad told him he shouldn't eat green eggs because that meant they were bad. Brother could NOT convince him that they were ok.

Nothing like hatching on lockdown day before you can even get the turner out. Crazy things!

I found this interesting about the black skin being sex linked. What would the traits be of pullets and cockerels of such a combination?

Here is a pic of my newest eggs. The one on the right was first on 8/12, the middle was 2nd on 8/14 and the one on the left was today 8/15. I think there is a difference between the one from today and the other two. My question is, are these from the same hen and they are just leveling out...

I was looking forward to more colorful egg layers with my hatch and out of 8 EE/silkie offspring the only pea comb I can see is a roo.

My EE silkie crosses. The older 2 are with a white silkie roo, the baby is with a buff silkie roo, same momma.

You can't really tell but PJ has somewhat of a silver sheen. Very interested to see the adult color.
