    Had I known what I know now I'd have known he was a boy from day one. Apparently that mix sex links (silkie over japanese bantam ). Girls have black legs, boys yellow.

    I have a roo like that. He was about 2 weeks old when it was obvious that he was a roo. Mr. Obvious became his name. :D

    Have a funny for you all. My brother was talking to his dad about his EE starting laying and that she lays the cutest green eggs. His dad told him he shouldn't eat green eggs because that meant they were bad. Brother could NOT convince him that they were ok.

    So my silkie roo over my Japanese hen should give me sex linked chicks? Shweet! Wish I'd have known that for a fact that first hatch. Had 5 chicks hatch from that pairing and only one had yellow legs. He's definitely a roo and we knew that from about 2 weeks old. His name is even Mr. Obvious...

    Here is a pic of my newest eggs. The one on the right was first on 8/12, the middle was 2nd on 8/14 and the one on the left was today 8/15. I think there is a difference between the one from today and the other two. My question is, are these from the same hen and they are just leveling out...

    I was looking forward to more colorful egg layers with my hatch and out of 8 EE/silkie offspring the only pea comb I can see is a roo.

    You can't really tell but PJ has somewhat of a silver sheen. Very interested to see the adult color.
