    Easter Egger club!

Hey guys I'm looking for a bantam chicken who will get along well with my silkies. We loved our standard easter eggers but want to keep only a bantam flock. Anyone here had experience with the bantam Easter eggers? Would they mix well with my silkies? Any info would be great.. Thanks.

I'm really glad you like them. We love all our chickens but Freya was one of my son's favorites. She was always gentle and very sweet. :)

Their is no doubt Freya is a girl. At 17 weeks her brother has flowing saddle feathers and the obvious red patches.

They were purchased at papas poultry in redding. All as pullets. Said they are sexed as day olds because of the barring. Sure if they turned out to be roosters he would swap them out..

    Easter Egger club!

It just takes time. It usually is due from problems during incubation. A few of mine that had that problem have grown up to be normal sized. You would never know they had been the runt lol

So sorry If you have other chickens who don't have it yet make sure the sick ones are seperated. Feel around your chicks stomach and bottom. Do you feel any hard spots? I've had chicks that have underdeveloped digestive systems do that. Probiotics and the save a chick electrolytes and vitamins...

    Easter Egger club!

I'm hoping so. At one point I was considering getting rid of all the hens and just keeping my roosters and bantams lol. Huby wants the eggs though lol. So now we are just downsizing on the standards lol

    Easter Egger club!

I wish we had some good guard dogs. We are training one now but it will be some time before he is ready. Our other dogs would eat them if they got out so they are kept seperate. I'm not a big cat person after the attack.... :(

    Easter Egger club!

That's how we started too. We had all our chickens and ducks together to start with. We never had a problem with our standards getting along with our bantams. Unfortunately we had a stray cat kill 4 of our polish bantams. After that they went into the coop. I didn't want to take any chances. Our...

    Easter Egger club!

I really do love how they all kind of have their own personalities!! It's just 2 cute and let's you grow to love each one individually. My little welsummers seem to be a bit flighty but are very curious and big talkers. We have quite a few different breeds mixed together. Mostly easter eggers...

    Easter Egger club!

I could be wrong but I don't think they are that mean I just think you have the wrong flock dynamics. You have an amazing setup for a few pet chickens. I just think some breeds need more room. I don't think that means they are mean per say. I've heard of chickens being canibals in a coop that's...

    Easter Egger club!

X2 Our leghorn is very mild mannered and our head easter egger is the leader of our flock lol. The only hens in our flock that seem jittery at all is our australorp and our jubilee's. Our oldest ee doesn't lay anymore. The ee under her are much moreid mannered. Not so dominant. Our ee roosters...

    Easter Egger club!

That's funny you say that. My polish freaked out when he saw the red feed scooper lol. We carry ours around for awhile if they show any aggression. It seems to help alot. It doesn't last forever but it's kept it from escalating to where we would have to get rid of them.. :)
