Great pic, Sally! (I see your queenie 🥰)
I'm VERY new to beekeeping. There's SO much to learn and I feel completely ill-prepared. I've been studying for months, but it still feels pretty overwhelming.
Another new adventure!
Hey y'all! Happy Pride!! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
I've been MIA for quite a while - got a new coop, new chicks, and bees! (I think I *may* have overdone it). 🤪
I hope everyone is doing well. I'm going to try and keep up better...
Here's my new babies 🐥:
2 x Olive Egger
2 x Blue Rock
2 x Noir Marans
1 x...
Yeah, that's what I offered - my favorites. Apologies that I put them in "list" form, I wasn't really sure how else to write it. Without knowing your personal likes and dislikes, I recommended the highest fiber foods that I know of that are palatable to *most* people, but you will have to decide...
There are 2 types of fiber: soluble and insoluble.
Soluble fiber (nuts, seeds, beans, peas) helps to slow down digestion. Insoluble fiber (whole grains and veggies) helps food pass through more quickly.
In order for a food to be considered "high-fiber" (by the FDA) it needs to contain 5g+ of...
I keep losing this thread. I don't always get notifications for some reason. 🙃
There's another thread talking about chick orders for spring and I'm getting ANTSY! Meyer and McMurray are both already taking orders, but Mt. Healthy doesn't start until end of Nov. or early Dec. The wait!😭
Yes, I'm very happy Ginny is ok (even with a slightly deformed foot)! I didn't want to have to separate her from the flock. In the process, though, I did find out that there's a chicken vet in my area! So, I made an account with them (just in case)! I guess there's a silver lining there! 🩶
She's doing much better! Thank you for asking (and for bringing me back to the thread), @TwoCrows 🤗. We taped her toe for a couple of weeks, but as soon as we took it off it went right back to the way it was (I think it's just permanently cockeyed now), but she isn't limping at all and she...
Depending on the look you're going for, a tinted moisturizer might be a good option. It can even out the skin without getting "cakey". Many of them are also "buildable" so you can apply more if you want more coverage.
This one is pretty good:
Hurt people hurt people. These kids that are being horrible to you probably feel horrible about themselves and they act out by being mean. They likely grew up in an intolerant home and have parents who are also bullies. The behavior these kids are displaying is learned. Try feeling sorry for...
It's quite the tale! Having lived through it, you have experience and knowledge you can share with others going through something similar and that is truly invaluable!
You're a real trooper! I don't know what I would've done in that situation - only 10 mos in - but whatever I chose would definitely have been wrong! 😅
Good for you for toughing it out! That is commendable! 🫡
