@FlyWheel If I let my husband have a hatchery, he would!!! Right now we're just hatching to work on a couple projects and selling the extras to fund our chicken hobby/obsession.
This had to hurt!! My easter egger named Wormy laid another whopper today. The last one was 81.3 grams and this one is....
.....103.8 grams!!!!
for reference, I weighed a large store egg and it was only 41 grams.
I like my standards because of their size. Extra males and mean males can feed my whole family better than a bantam could. Also, I find that my BB red bantam does not lay as many eggs.
edit to add: Banti is cute and she will have a home with me for a long time, but I don't want more bantams.
Here's what happened this morning in my coop after I added two new nest boxes.... the main rooster (Garfunkel) crawled in and started purring! Several of the hens crowded around and one got in there with him. The other rooster in that coop just stood there like he invented nest boxes LOL...
The first generation of my "Blue King" project is underway. My goal is to create a fully crested blue laying hybrid. For now they're technically easter eggers. Cute though!! Here are three of them.
