I agree that it might be better to put the broody hens eggs in the incubator just in case and @ronott1 has some helpful tips about staggered hatches:

Egg #’s 1, 2 look good to me…#’s 3 and 6 are no bueno and #’s 4, 5 look 👌🏼 for earlier development. Keep an eye on #4 tho cause idk…It still looks kinda iffy.

I don’t blame you and I’m sure that nobody else does either.

Just candled my Orp eggs again this morning and pulled out a few more quitters so now I’m down to half my set # and still have one questionable left to figure out. Hopefully they all make it…:fl How’s everyone else’s doing so far?

Aww, people…Don’t be sad! I still have 28 eggs left in the incubator and already kinda knew beforehand that half the eggs I had set on 3/18 might not hatch due to fertility, storage and/or cold weather issues. It’s okay with me cause this is only just my first hatch of the season ;)

Well…I candled my first batch of eggs last night and ended up pulling out 13 of them. 9 were clear/infertile and the other 4 were early quitters with blood rings developing. Most of these were older eggs that were stored longer than a week prior to incubation.

Please change me to a yes. :)

Is that a Farm Innovators incubator on the left? Just curious…How are your hatch rates in that one compared to the NR360?

I’m setting 41 eggs for now. I’m sure they’re not all fertile as it’s still kinda early in season but hopefully some will hatch.

It takes 21 days for chicken eggs to hatch so hopefully within the next day or 2 yours will be ready! :fl 🍀
