    Thank you all for the warm welcome and great advice. Next Question: we are moving our tank raised girls (4 weeks) into their coop today. How long should we keep them inside only before introducing them to the attached outdoor run (1 inch chicken wire, covered, about 8x8)

    That makes sense. We have been through that as well and have more in our barn right now than usual, as we lost our two senior cats. We want to get more barn cats, but thought we ought to let the chickens reach full size first.

    Thanks so much. This is very good to know. On the rare occasion we get to sleep in (8:30 a.m.) I didn't want to be a slave to their schedule Thanks for the great advice!

    Just built a new coop. We don't intend to have any roosters (fingers crossed). 15 hens, 10x8 coop space inside with food, water, roosting bars, and nesting boxes. Door to outside run is channel set and ready for auto door, but we are going to try it on our own at first. Coop attaches to...
