Guaranteed...there WILL be poop...LOTS OF POOP!
My girls who hatched end of Sept & beginning of Oct this past year are just starting to lay. That means about 7 months, give or take a couple weeks. My spring hatch girls the year before were laying by March as soon as weather warmed up.
There is actually a swap thread for turkey eggs already. I run it. We do other eggs too, but it's not a chicken based thread like the rest are.

As for individual private swaps person to person, we can do those...
Sweet Pea is very pretty too. We may have to swap some eggs or poults later.
Is that a white spot I see on the head? That would be something barred if it is.
Is Sweet Pea 1 of mine too? I love seeing all of my crazy colors!!!
My turkeys are all penned right with the chickens. No problems at all. The only thing I can't pen with my turkeys are the peafowl. They fight!! Turkeys & chickens eat, roost, sleep & poop side-by-side 24/7 here. They even...
The buff is definitely a tom. They are still very young. These 6 are from my last hatches last fall end of Sept & beginning of Oct. The buff & the red slate are both definitely boys. It's the other 4 that are still in question. Parents of the 6 in the top pix are in the 3 bottom pix (red slate...
Pebbles is another or my babies. Aurora hatched some of my eggs last spring...lol
I get all kinds of crazy colors from my original quad. Can't wait to see what I get when the young ones start laying.
Ok, got pix to the tablet finally. Let's see if they will load.
Young red slate tom
Young buff? tom (Too light to be bourbon red)
Young blue palm...not positive of gender yet
2 young bronze mix...hoping both hens
And the one that I was thinking blue sweetgrass for...praying hen!
These...
Loving the red in her back. Is that just the light or is that red patch always visible? None of my other babies have that!
If you want to show 1-2, start with 8. You WILL almost definitely lose about half since this is the first time you have had them. You want twice as many raised out for...
The benefits of hand raised spoiled rotten broody hens...lol
Be careful when they start to hatch. She may not have been sitting long enough yet to be in momma mode just yet.
I feed about 20-22% protein to all of my birds.Broilers & broad breasted grow more slowly & heritage breeds grow more quickly. I prefer to have stronger legs & slower growth rates on my meaties & quicker growth on my slow growing heritage roos that will go to freezer camp.
Turkeys can definitely eat fermented feed. They do require a bit higher protein. I just feed all of my birds the higher protein. Minimum 18% protein for mature birds, 22-24% for poults & growing birds. You can use distiller's grain, cat food or dog food to raise protein levels.
I'm hoping little Moose Tracks is a hen. The kids named this batch of poults after icecream & candy bars.
Any time you have hens of any kind in with a broody daily nest checks are mandatory.
I just toss mine all in together & see what pops outta the eggs later. Then I try to identify colors once they completely feather in. I like the rainbow.
1-2 of my girls try to go broody at a time off & on all summer. I just steal eggs daily & put them in the bator. Until they are actually sitting on an entire clutch of eggs & settled in they are pretty easy to move & steal eggs from. The key is to just keep making them move & stealing eggs...
