I found this one on youtube and ordered one. I'll make sure it works first and then I think it will be pretty easy to use it as a prototype and I can make more of my own using kitty litter buckets. I'll let you know how it works.
oops, it would probably help if I included the link...
Why not you ask? Because my back cannot take it. My barn though, is a curious thing that I'm trying to improve upon since I don't have the money to completely rebuild. So, I guess, the mice will be staying in the floor. I opened the link you provided for the 5 gal bucket mouse traps but I...
Poop distribution IS an improvement. It distributes nutrients and good bacteria and generally makes all the plants very very happy.
Dumb question here: if you moved into a place that had a structure already built and you wanted to put that gravel underneath the thing, is that even possible...
I've been doing some quilting. I'm involved in a swap group that keeps me hopping most of the time.
Also, rearranging pens and figuring out who are the breeders to keep and what does each one need in order to be a better bird?
I have often wondered if the runny nose during winter activities is due to the person breathing full time through their mouth.
I wonder if forcing yourself to breathe through your nose would alleviate the runs?
Hmmm, good thing I ducked out as quick as I peeked in. I cannot keep up with a thread that moves that fast anyway.
I do have a life to attend to. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
Thank you Tara. That pretty much sunk in (amazingly, as I've only just finished my first cup of coffee for the day) but I will keep it and read it over and over. Maybe I can come to more of an understanding. If I look at it while I look at my birds, I might do even better... or worse...
Tara, in regard to sex-linked genetics. I'm wondering... I am creating a bantam line in my Andalusians. I was told that the bantam gene is sex-linked to the male. So, this year I'm wondering if every single offspring of that bantam male will carry the bantam gene? I wonder because this year...
Ok, I don't think I'm going to be able to catch up on this thread. If I ever try to go back and read it all, just a note to myself to start on page 27 and stop at page 42. 15 pages behind on this thread is a tremendous amount of reading. Hope I didn't miss anything hugely important!
I agree with using a computer to an extent. I don't understand genetics and barely remember learning it in school. However, I guess maybe I'm stubborn but I would like to try to understand it to the best of my ability (which is likely pretty low) rather than just leave it up to a machine to do...
Question on dwarfism or the bantam gene.
Could you maybe explain further: dw - recessive bantam, rg - recessive bantam, and Z - dominant bantam?
I have been wondering about it lately in my bantam project. I've been informed that the bantam gene is sex linked to the male but I'm wondering...
Haha! I can't tell you how many times I've done that! Searching for it in the dark on the chicken coop floor can be pretty gross!
My latest mishap was dropping my flashlight into my bucket of water that I was collecting! What an oaf! I think I must have dropped it again somewhere because...
Here is a picture of a black andalusian. He is not mine. However, you can see (out in the sun) that he carries at least a little bit of lacing and since he is the only one she has, she will be using him. Just look at his hackle and shoulder feathers. You can see the lacing.
A splashed...
Wow, it's been a while. Ever since your first lesson on genetics... I was able to follow but the next time I checked in was later in the day and well, my brain just couldn't take another lesson so soon and so late in the day...
So I waited and now its been almost 3 weeks. I'm finally caught...
