So I put in my Spring order with McMurry. I breed my own EOs but wanted a bit of color to the egg layer pens so Ordered the Whiting true blues they just made available and some Cuckoo Marans. Kinda excited to see how the whitings do as layers. Anyone else have experience with those birds?

I can usually sex my birds at two weeks. Have a 90% success rate or better. The hens get tail feathers a full three weeks before my boys. This only works for the birds I am breeding though. Not true of all chickens by any means. Sent you a PM

So I have to show off my new brooder box. I am lucky enough to work in research and the doctors are always getting shiny new equipment that comes in wonderful crates. Being a scavenger I take these crates home and make stuff out of them. My current chickenk coop is 80% recycled plywood from...

I love my goats but they don't seem to deter hawks. You have to watch the new born kids so hawks don't take off with them. We keep ours in a stall when they first kid. I would not use Blue Kote on a human child. Carcinogenics are more detrimental to young children because their cellular...

My Orpingtons are pretty good eating. They take much longer to grow out, but I think they taste better than the cornish crosses. Mine are imported stock, so they are heavier birds meant to be dual purpose.

Wow, you guys have been hopping on here. Great looking chickens and fun stories as always. Getting ready to expand and improve our coops and runs at home soon. Will be posting pictures as we progress. The poor chickens are a bit crowded right now and have taken over my goat stalls.
