This site is difficult to navigate now and my phone is having difficulties so I just gave it another try to see if it is any easier. I am sure I will get used to the changes in time. Our Great Pyrenees puppies are 8 weeks old now. We had 5 leave in the last 4 days and there are 5 boys that...

So the more you post, the more overrun with chickens you are? I better be careful not to post too much, lol.

Why are some of you overrun with chickens while I am chillin' with my peeps? I did not select that so it must be assigned.

I had to reset my password by contacting admin and I imagine they were so busy that I just got on today after verifying my identity by describing my PMs which I had not committed to memory but at least I was able to give sufficient detail to prove that I am who I said I was, lol. I was also...

I am feeding a lactating Great Pyrenees and her 12 puppies now that they are getting puppy food a couple times a day so the feed bill is going to be insane here for awhile!

I really like the Quechua type so he probably did catch my eye! I am trying to get the original Easter Egger back so the further they get from the original the less likely they are going to work for my project. I had some faults in some of the pullets I raised that made them undesirable to me so...

Absolutely! I would not risk bringing in anything that has been vaccinated or exposed to vaccinated birds because they are carriers of disease. I could take the risk of opening my closed flock for unvaccinated birds from a healthy flock. I had two hens from different breeding that I put...

It is so tempting to take the risk on healthy unvaccinated birds but then I would not know what I was hatching. I have some really beautiful colored Easter Egger chicks hatching this year and I want to see how they come out. It seems silly to have a rooster for only 4 hens and technically I...

If you can brood them outside that does cut alot of mess because the ground will absorb the water. I wash our grass and dirt with the hose when the rain does not flush it enough and the worms take it from there. Obviously the larger the area the less concentrated the waste will be to manage...

That is not legal so you can fight it unless someone else owns the home where you are living. If having birds is not unlawful where you live and you are not neglecting your birds you can't be penalized for the actions of your neighbors.

Have they been vaccinated for anything? Are you NPIP? Are they true to type with beards, muffs, pea combs, slate legs, and laying true green (not muddy green or olive) eggs? I may be able to quarentine for 30 days before putting them under my rooster. How much are they?

Our Great Pyrenees mama is inside with her 12 pups so we can keep an eye on them and make sure they are all getting a chance to nurse. This is the second tome she got into my bird room and killed my chicks so I am starting over again! I just got a taller fence that I did not think she would...

How sad! Ducks tend to be more predator savy than chickens. Ours have plenty of tree cover and so it is mostly the crows going after the eggs and ducklings that we have to deal with here. Amazing that the hawk got 2 ducks in 5 minutes!

The owners of the stud sell their puppies for $500 each and they have people waiting for puppies so I may have some sold through them. I paid a $500 stud fee and raising the pups will take time and money so I will likely go with their pricing if that is the going rate. I am going to have the...

They can have color on up to 1/3 of their coat. I think of Great Pyrenees as being solid white, though. It is best to breed solid white with color and then you get both white and spotted puppies. The dad has red spotting that I liked. The color will fade and they can go solid white. The...

So my hen that I thought was egg bound has not layed an egg that we saw, but she is acting fine again. I went ahead and put her back with the rest but I will be keeping an eye on her. The rooster thought she looked fine and showered her with affection, lol.

Here are the birth pictures I took of the pup we will most likely keep and the first 8 puppies when we moved them from the shop to the house. I was going to try something like this with each pup but the light on the first 8 was not great until I got them inside, where she had 4 more (3 solid...
