I'm welcoming myself back lol. I've been following the thread up until the end of June. Busy summer and my atrocious work hours I only have my weekends to get everything done and it only leaves me with sleep time and no computer face time. sigh.

So sorry to hear about the Urch order. If your broody has already proven herself you should be good. I've had big hens hatch a huge clutch of bantams eggs and had awesome sucess. If adding the chicks to her just be sure she accepts them and they accept her. Believe it or not sometimes they won't...
Hatch outcome:
51 eggs, 39 lockdown, 26 hatched, 1 deceased, leaving 25 chicks. Broody all 7 eggs hatched.

I rehome roosters for breeding. I do not keep roosters that are agressive towards my children or me of course. So sometimes they end up in the stewpot. But lots of land for them to be a rooster oh and lots of chickens too. lol
I'm so glad I waited till this morning to remove the etc from the bator. We had a rain storm that took out the power. But they all seem fine. Ok so here goes:
51 eggs in bator
39 lockdown
25 live chicks
1 deceased hatchling
2 quiters (shrink wrapped) - I honestly think they had gotten turned...
