Anyone know of a dwarf tree variety that does good in a pot and in the heat? I had an elderberry tree (dwarf) that didn't grow and I need a replacement.

All my plants died but the tomatoes and peppers. But I was able to harvest 15 lb. of pumpkin, 10 lb. of squash (yummy!) and nothing else. The rhubarb died a couple of times and STILL comes back! (My first experience with rhubarb)
So I live in growing zone 9b and is it okay to grow buckwheat...

-The pH is 7.5.
- There were red buds on it this morning
-I haven't put any compost or fertilizer on it so I don't think it could be nitrogen burn...

Went and picked up a bunch of plants including pepper, tomato, chives, chocolate mint, Italian parsley, blueberries, and snap dragons! Re-planted more toms in my greenhouse, wildflowers and lettuce sprouting, harvested some onions, made trellises out of wire, I'm pooped! That's why I am lazing...
