That would be a good lavender. Weather killed my rosemary too, so bought a small one to start over.
My bok choy and choy sum is a bust. I think that spell of hot weather, or planting too late is making them all bolt before they get any size to them. Will try again in July for a fall crop.
Mine almost died this past winter, so I was able to trim off the dead branches and salvage some of it, but now it looks like a bonsai plant. Bought 3 English lavender, which is supposed to be more durable. So sad you cannot get them to survive.
I read about different species of lavender, and which does well here in our weather type. English, the one we get the essential oil from, and for culinary and aromatic uses, is the one. I found some at our local store, plus another variety. I grow and harvest the buds to flavor kombucha. One of...
I've been pregerminating my bean seeds, and have gradually planted them out. It's too cool yet to direct seed. Did the majority of them yesterday, and more popped by this morning, so got those out too. Harvested all the oregano this morning, and having DH dig out the huge patch of them so I can...
I have a bird bath, and make sure I float some sticks in it or put a rough rock or ceramic hydroponic balls for them to climb on in case they fall in. Makes me sad to find drowned bees. You can also just have shallow rock filled container, adding water to just below the level of the rocks.
Phone year I just picked off the top bulbs, and shared them. Also, a neighbor used them as scallions.
Amazon has a lot to choose from. Even saw a 75' one.
Got mine on Amazon. Probably will get another soon. In my head, I'm trying to design a soaker hose system. Do I go with emitters,(and all the different size tubing, etc.) or flat soaker hose with quick connect attachments?
I am so over pocket hoses, fabric hoses, and so on. Today while preparing to water bean seeds, it exploded where I was holding it and I got soaked! For the same price, I recently bought a stainless steel hose. It is lightweight and should withstand pressure. Time will tell its durability. I...
Soaking bean seeds and will get them pre germinated before planting out. Weeding is always on the end of my 2 do list. Strung wires for the bush raspberries, cut off root suckered from fruit trees and pruned off some head whacking hat stealing branches from fruit trees. Replanting sunflowers...
Trimmed my sad lavender bushes, which had die back from this weird winter. Check on the planted beds, seeds have germinated and come up. Planted the green onion bottoms and the sprouted onions, after using the bulb leaves, saving the middle. Saving seed from those . With the weather getting...
Finally got all my early seeds planted. Snow and snap peas, potatoes, lettuce, kale, beets, sweet peas, bok choy and choy sum. As far as flowers, lost 90% of my dahlias and all of my pineapple lilies, callas. :hitToo wet and cold. I'd left them for years. Have to start over. I think we ended...
Today, picked raspberries, scarlet runner beans for seeds, green beans. Took seeds out of now dried sunflowers, separated garlic heads into big cloves to plant, and the rest to use.
Deadheading dahlias, harvesting sunflower heads before the birds, removing seeds from previously dried heads, saving seeds from pole and bush beans, poppies, bok choy, kale, dill, pulled the last of the onions and dug the last potatoes before the varmints eat them underground. Picking up...
I personally have come to the conclusion that fair judging is biased, and who should subject themselves to human rules and judgment? Beauty and taste are in the eye of the beholder, as well as value. I have never entered anything in any fair, though tempted to want to compete for the ribbons and...
I have
Read the reviews carefully. In the past, I would freeze the liquidy item in another container, remove container and then bag and seal. Rectangle containers made the bags somewhat more stackable. We have a Foodsaver that's lasted for years.
