haha I have no idea if itb works but I get my two teenage sons to pee (lots of testosterone) along the fence now and again. They think its hilarious but so far I have no losses to foxes. My electric fence is fantastic too. I just have to make sure it is turned off before the boys pee!

Yorkshire coop I love your dancing chicken Can I just ask anyone, what is the latest in the year that you will hatch eggs in the incubator? I have a brooder but what temperature and age would you recommend putting them outside in winter?

I think shooting on sight is a tad more effective than chasing down half the countryside first lol.

The chicks are beautiful! Congrats I did one last incubation of a runner duck egg but it hasnt worked out. Its the first time I have had a duckling die from skull malformation in the egg. Apparently, i have been reading up on it, its to do with the Balinese gene which gives a pompom on...

Hi guys, well, thank you all for telling me not to give up on those eggs - I candled again yesterday evening and its looking a lot more positive; at least 4 are showing obvious dark shadows inside, the shells are quite dark so its difficult to be sure. I am a little concerned because a couple...

Hi guys, I dont think my copper black marans eggs are fertile :-( I know, I know its only day 5 but the little silkie cross egg that I put in with them is showing veins already. These were shipped eggs, apart from the silkie cross, so I know it always a gamble but i'll check again on...

I have just decided to put 6 black copper maran eggs in the incubator. This will be the last hatch this year. I might stick a bantam silkie polish cross in there too. Just for curiosity :-)

Hi Yorkshire coop, Good luck with the candling. I have been hatching this year for the first time. I love it! Do you sell yours online only or do you go to fetes and shows at all? I love the hatching but I cant keep them all :-(

The excess males are no problem for me as we are a grow-ya-own kind of family and with four teenagers to feed, the extra protein is welcome. I think only one of the bantams is male, they are only six weeks so its difficult to tell. I thought I would take them all to the fete and tell people...

Oh yes it does get out of hand! Do any of you sell your excess birds? I started with two black copper marans, Karan and Mavis and three runner ducks called Francesca, Hildegaard and Penelope, Francesca and Hildegaard turned out to be Frankie and Harry! After finding out that my local...

The polish are beautiful. Do you have pics? The dark chicks in the photo are from a polish hen. I havent got into genetics but I find it interesting. The mum of these was a light speckled polish and the dad is a peking. The light chick is from the same dad but a white silkie, he/she doesnt...

Hi everyone , I have just found this thread after starting a UK call out of my own and here you all are - oops! I am in Surrey and my postage stamp garden is far too small for all the animals that I want but I dream of moving to Cornwall when the kids have finished school. I have five...
