Did you wrap his legs for the splay? It's not too difficult and will make all the difference. What kind of bedding do you have down for them? he gets through and for the others to hatch.

If it's sticky and gooey like take a warm soaked cotton ball and clean him up. When they first hatch they kinda fumble around but by the time they are dry w/in 24 hrs it should be up and normal.

Don't beat yourself up about it. If he externally pipped but did not zip and hatch he could have had issues or just a failure to thrive. Did he appear to be shrink wrapped or sticky? Did you see a yellow goo? Shrink wrapped chicks are stuck--the membrane has dried (and tightened) onto the...

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

I can't speak specific to geese but if you are seeing movement in the air cell and hearing peeps then they have internally pipped. If there is no external pip after 24 hrs from internal I would assist with a very small artificial pip. You really need the baby to stay in the shell as long as...

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

If it has internally pipped you should be able to see movement in the air cell and hear it peeping. I know nothing about goose incubation but that sure seems like a really large air cell and little bird.

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

WOO HOOO! CONGRATULATIONS. I think some of your pictures didn't come through. I can't speak for geese but if it were my duck eggs, I wouldn't worry about the weight loss if they are starting to internal pip. If they haven't pipped externally in 24 hr, you might need to assist. Again, if they...
