You all need to move here to the mountains with all your chickens, since the latest predictions are that BOTH coast lines are going under! WOOHOO! Walt on one side of me and Kathy on the other! Wait- That could be dangerous. What am I thinking?

Billy- call that "teenager" back up and get every bit of info out of him you can!!! Those old breeders know lots of tricks about getting the color right, etc. Ask him where he got his stock, who he sold it to, does he know anyone with them now? Does he have any advice? Your "teen" is a find!!!

Thank you for sharing those great old pictures!! If you find any of Delawares, you know you will make my day! Sew- mine are lap sitters and feet sitters and shoulder riders and basic friendly pests. I really enjoy them.

Junglebird, I do think Delawares would love a place with you - mine love to forage and dig up everything. You may have to deal with some of the crud that the wild birds will pass on, respiratory diseases and things like that in that situation, but it does sound like chicken heaven, especially...

Junglebird- where are you located? Climate can have a bit to do with your choice, but there are several Heritage breeds that you might like. Everyone here knows I will highly recommend the Delaware for their personalities as well as their good dual purpose qualities, but there really are some...

Jared, What a thoughtful post- you have me thinking about how to reach the general public, who won't generally know about PP or Backyard Poultry, or other great places where there are ads. And may I insert, thank you! for sending people to the Delaware Club site. We are trying so hard to...

Walt and Scott, thank you, but I am only "doing unto others" - people have been so good and so helpful to me in getting me started, how can I not help other people? And look out, Scott, I may still mooch some eggs one of these years. A lot of people on this thread, not only Bob and Walt, have...

Scott, don't tempt me! I am already chewing my nails over where I am going to put more coops. Hatcheries will sometimes use pictures of birds that do NOT represent their stock, I would try to find someone who actually got some of those whites and see what they say.

And I essentially agree with that- and that is why I said there might be something we were all missing in looking at those Chants. I wish there were comments on judges cards for people to know why they choose the way they do - but that would take forever. Just wishful thinking on my part, it...
