Although I am no expert, I think the first one might be a pullet. I found the lighter coloring red turned out to be pullets. Well, that's before the raccoons decimated my stock :/
I hatched a choc lf project boy from Korfus Kluckers last year and finally hatched some chicks from him. Unfortunately he isn't a very nice rooster and I am going to cull him. Here is a pic of him and I am pleased with his size but I don't keep aggressive roosters because of the kids
dh thinks someone may have started out using a bb gun because the first losses were unexplained but I was losing hens as well, which wouldn't make sense.
a partial list of losses
cream legbar hen, english black orp pullet, american bantam black orp pullet, cream legbar juvenile trio, gorgeous...
I need some help from my chicken friends. I have been absent from the boards as I have been dealing with some human/chicken issues.
I have neighbors that don't want me to have roosters, although I am zoned for it. One of my neighbors has taken it upon themselves to downsize my chickens. I...
Ugh, I don't even want to discuss feed, just paid $18 for chick starter...
I have a question if someone doesn't mind answering. I have never noticed before how long my orps stop laying when they molt because there are 5 girls and their molt was staggered. BUT my jubilee hen molded a couple...
here is a picture of my lf project choc boy, I think he is looking real good. the pullet is the size of the bantams so I think she will still be too large to be bantam but not sure if she will be big enough to go with the LF
sorry for the poor quality pic, used my phone
nope, I had a problem 2 years ago and got some higher ups on the phone and it was brought to my attention they are the ONLY carrier that accepts live chicks and if they run into too many problems they can change their policies and no longer ship live....then where would we be?
the problem with...
and lots of personality, the roos always are the friendliest. this one practically jumps at me out of the pen and REALLY likes me. ugh, will wait a little longer and then will have to cull if so
and here is a pic of two chicks I hatched from Korfus Kluckers, lf choc orp project....I think it is funny how the choc is the same size or bigger than the lf chicks that hatched with it and the black is smaller. I think it will be interesting to see the end size of the black one. sorry for poor...
I need help with gender on this one, I have been back and forth but now am at the "it's a cockeral" side....what do you think? 2 months old, comb and wattles have been this size for a while and one of my blue chicks from my own that is a month younger has bigger comb and wattles....
and...
and the light colors on this one made me think this was a pullet, but the tail is just starting to come in
I think this one is 6 weeks old, it is cold because I brought it outside and it still has heat in the brooder....
cockeral or pullet?
I want to say this is a roo but the comb and wattles haven't gotten bigger yet....they are really close to the same body size but the orp kept trying to duck down to get out. they are both around 10 weeks old and the blrnn has huge wattles...
this jubilee is from the roo I culled because he was...
what size nesting boxes would be good for these guys? I was going to have dh make me some that are 18 inches wide but how deep do they need to be? Is 18 inches even sufficient?
yeah, this year has been the worst for shipped eggs coming in for me. I have only gotten called twice for about 8 boxes, all said call for pick up. Good thing for us is our carrier doesn't bring out boxes that don't fit in the mailbox because the mailbox is a mile from the house, so I get a...
