and so, because life can never be perfect, though I do try my darndest, I had been aiming at getting my flock numbers down to a manageable number for me since the kids no longer want to help now that they have bunnies. I thought I had gotten to that number but the wild birds had other ideas...

give a girl a break! I have a one track mind and I read "scouts" and immediately think CRAP, now what did I miss? I am a super busy dedicated troop leader and it's interesting all the bee talk. the girls are working on their bronze award on the disappearance of the honeybees. if anyone knows...

I had to re-read your post a few times. I just kept thinking. " now why are they having boy and girl scout troops looking at homes for holes? is there a spackling badge I don't know about? I must have missed that leader meeting. "

I will be in Tucson in June for a weekend if that helps. I could have you drop it at the in-laws and I'll bring it up to north phoenix for whoever wants it first.

FWIW, I always have brahmas. They are probably one of my most favorite chicken breeds. There will always be a few of those running in my flock. Oddly enough, I have not lost one to heat stroke (knock on wood). I have lost all other sorts of other breeds but not my brahmas. They are big, calm...

I just wanted to post a sad update. Our dear "Sonoran Silkies" lost her husband on sunday after a tragic accident while rock climbing. I ask that you all do not bug her, I don't know if she would even want me to post this as it is her news, but I just felt that she has helped so many of us that...

Ducklings!!!!!!!!!!! I love my ducks! I have 12 of them, most of them pure magpies. Not sure who is laying, but I will have fertile eggs soon. Terrific layers, very good in the summers. I can hatch for you but you MUST take all of them.

So in an effort to rehome some of these hens, I will gladly trade two hens for a 50# bag of flockraiser. I just need them to go to good homes where they will not be eaten. I think it's a pretty fair trade. Hate to put them up on flaky CL.

Petra, I had a duck injure a newly hatched duckling last year in a similar manner. It was fine the night before but in the morning, I found it with half its leg missing and all bruised like that. it was bleeding from the hip and obviously in shock. I had to do the deed myself and then called up...

I would, however I have been told that they are VERY NOISY. I asked around and the concensus is that my "little" farm makes enough noise, I am not to add any more noisemakers. bummer. thanks for the offer.

Don't know if anyone here remembers my story from last year when one of my muscovies escaped early in the morning, flew up on my neighbor's roof, flew over to the other side and landed in a different neighbor's yard, swam in their newly remodled pool, knocked on their arcadia door with her bill...

I would LOVE to have a few of those. I find them to be fairly unpleasant to look at, but I also keep muscovies which I happen to love. I am pretty sure the fireman only said, " No goats, pigs, mini horses, llamas, alpacas, maybe geese but I just pretend I didn't hear that part and jersey cows"...
