Sadly, there’s still no sign of her. :hit

    ALABAMA!!

Congratulations @Rshumpal! They’re adorable. My Speckled Sussex pullet is MIA as of this afternoon. I can’t fjnd a trace of her anywhere. She is/was a determined escape artist, so I had a feeling she wouldn’t live to a ripe old age, but she hadn’t even laid her first egg yet! :barnie I suspect...

    ALABAMA!!

Good morning, everyone! I'm really hoping we're going to get a break from this heat soon; my pasture is downright crispy these days. The first of my April pullets (a RIR) started laying this week! :celebrate Her hatch mates should be joining the party soon. I swear she's been holding out for...

Are you looking for anything in particular? I have a couple I could spare. I'm also in Auburn.

    ALABAMA!!

@HomesteaderWife, I keep a close eye on Craigslist and on local Facebook groups (though that's gotten trickier with the recent crackdown on animal ads). Like I said, I'm not in a hurry to find anything, but it's always harder when you want specific breed(s).

    ALABAMA!!

Darn. Isn't that how it always goes? I'm sure I'll find one - my oldest pullets are only about 9 weeks old, so I'm in no rush. Thanks!

    ALABAMA!!

So, I have a young (5-6 weeks old) cockerel that appears to be an Olive Egger (Cream Legbar X Marans cross is the most popular guess) instead of the Favaucana he was supposed to be. Anybody here want him? Or, even better, anyone have a Salmon Faverolles or Speckled Sussex cockerel/roo they'd be...

Just got confirmation from MPC that my eggs have shipped! I also have a chick order that should be shipping from Hoover's at some point today. :wee

    ALABAMA!!

Hi everyone! I know I've been absent for quite a while. I lost most of my flock over the winter to persistent repeat attacks of what I assume was a raccoon. :( I had two survivors who I gave away to ensure their safety. But I'm finally ready to re-group and start over; I've got chicks shipping...

    ALABAMA!!

@artsy.owl Check your inbox! Sent you a message as requested regarding my “extra” chicks. :thumbsup
  12. AUChickenGal

    ALABAMA!!

Correct. The darker chick is a RIR mix, and the others are Faverolles mixes. The father is a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana.

    ALABAMA!!

I'm always amazed by how quickly chicks grow and change in the first several weeks of their lives. My newest ones are one week old today!

    ALABAMA!!

I absolutely adored my Faverolles; I was heatbroken when I lost her. I'm so glad I was able to get ome chicks from her last eggs. Thank you! I definitely won't be keeping all five chicks; if there are any extra pullets, I will let you know. I should be able to discern their sexes when their...

    ALABAMA!!

Thanks! The father is a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana. One chick is from a Rhode Island Red egg, and the others are out of eggs from my (recently deceased) Salmon Faverolles.

Hatched my first set of homebred chicks yesterday!

    ALABAMA!!

Oh no! I've been worried about that all afternoon. Hopefully your power will be back on soon. Until then, I'd maybe wrap your incubator in towels or blankets to try to keep as much heat inside as possible. At least it's summer time; I can't imagine how I'd feel if something like that happened in...

    ALABAMA!!

I candled this morning, and it looks like most, if not all, of my eggs are developing! Woo hoo! :wee

    ALABAMA!!

Good luck with your EE eggs! Hopefully we'll both have successful hatches by this time next month.
