If you don’t mind mix breed, I’ll give you some eggs to play with. Girls have been laying good on these nice days. Got 7+ doz in the fridge. Main rooster is Ayam Cemani mix I got from Pyxis’ eggs. Girls are random. Have 5 hatchery buff orps, breeder Isabel Orp, Colombian Wyandotte, gold...
I’m closest! Lapeer aka Marathon, so half hour or so depending what side of Freeville. :)
I have a mix flock, usually buy a few good quality eggs to hatch show chickens for my daughter in 4-H.
Also have horses, Kunekune pigs, bees. And this year, kid was given an angus calf. The pigs are...
There was ducks, a tank with mixed bantams and Salmon Favorelles, tanks of Buff Orp pullets, australorp pullets, leghorn pullets, GLW, RIR, Cornish cross. Weekend crowd usually picks it off.
ugh, stopped at TSC yesterday for some fence supplies, they had tanks full of all sorts. But one that caught my eye was Salmon Favorelle Pullets. Stood there and waited a bit, wanted to get a few, but since only 3 people ever seem to be working in that store and they were busy, end up passing...
We lost power yesterday from 10:30 to 1pm. Wrapped up the incubator to hold the temp, was just lucky to be home during spring break to catch that. I did a quick candle over the weekend, looks like the shipped eggs did poorly, lots of clears. Will do a thorough candle and pull the clears for...
I get all my feed from the Countrymax in Cortland. Their chicks were normally pre-order only then extras sold off, but have gotten more into open chick days like TSC, just scaled back in quantity.
I wish you well in your tough choices. My college roommate from Long Island moved to TX 5 years ago with her Rochester husband. Just moved her mom down with them as LI housing and living was too expensive. They miss the quiet country life, but don’t miss winters. They keep a plot in the...
Got my first two of three chicken egg shipments. 1 doz bantam partridge Wyandotte eggs from Tx. Really nice person to work with, but think they are inexperienced in shipping. Used a plastic bag, filled with expanding foam, then set the eggs on, then put another expanding foam filled bag on...
Yes, they free range at will. My coop is built to only be sleeping quarters. Hoping the ground thaws enough Sunday to set the electric Poultry net up. Only evidence Tuesday was the excessive feathers scattered across the front yard and Snicket hopped into the outdoor pig pen (currently...
Sad night here, found daughter’s show chicken, Lemony Snicket, dead in the coop. She had been attacked by the neighbor dog for a second time this year on Tuesday. All I can guess is the stress weakened her. She was a beautiful, large, healthy lemon cuckoo Orpington. I picked her up as a...
Yes it was! Valley Poultry :) There is a breeder in downstate NY, Red Feather Farm, but don’t think his started laying yet. Surprisingly hubby wasn’t mad when they arrived, since they are chicken-ish sized. I haven’t told him yet that they will likely live in the trees
first shipment of hatching eggs arrived yesterday for the Easter hatch-along - 7 Midget White Turkey eggs! Got chicken eggs ordered to come in next week. I'll save all the shipping materials to bring to Chickenstock if anyone can use them. Double boxes, Styrofoam peanuts and bubble wrap.
Oh what a day!
I had problem with the neighbor dogs this winter and tired of it. They were issued appearance ticket, and of course plead not guilty to their dog harassing and killing our chickens. Now I have to go to town court against them.
