you have to have a solid male and barred females to get sexlinked chicks that you can sex at hatch. BOxBR will give you all silver cockerels with black & gold pullets
Not yet, have been busy hatching with other breeds and projects. I did keep the one BOxBR girl that was mostly black and if she continues to be a good layer this year may try her out with my EE this fall. Just had too many other things going on and not enough breeding pens this past season.
There are pics of them when they were younger on this page; https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/229407/buff-orpington-x-barred-rock-results-pics/30#post_10334998
They looked about the same when they grew up; gold & black= pullet silver & black= cockerel. One of my pullets did have more black...
Very handsome fellow. I now have standardbred Buff Orpingtons and Buff Plymouth Rocks. Just waiting for the pullet eggs to size up so I can get hatching.

They sound pretty; My girls all look a little different but the one that is mostly black looks the biggest. I'm going to breed her to my EE boy this fall.
Mine that were hatched in early Dec, dressed out March 3 at 2 pounds 4 ounces. So around 10-12 weeks, not bad at all. The girls are really pretty and these are very friendly.
Yes the goldens were girls and the silvers were boys. I was just so confused because they all grew out so fast and even the girls had big thick legs. One girl layed at 16 weeks, the others at 18 & 19 weeks. Light brown/tan eggs, a bit on the small side even now. But they are very sweet. There is...
I had some barred hens; hatchery stock, possibly not pure. Covered by a BO roo that is definately not a good looking BO, way too tall and leggy. So far it seems like everyone is a boy;
This hatch was two white and two gold, nobody had a distinct head spot. One gold may or may not be a...
