Thank you. What I spend on bedding alone would surprise many. Health of a flock is not inexpensive. Good luck in whatever you decide.to do.

Licensing is a big expense. Do it right or don't do it. I think that you need to pick a breed that is an efficient layer. Only sell straight run or you will be over run with cockerels. Only way you get enough chicks to offset expenses. My incubator cost is high and operating expenses larger...

EIPA was a good show. Plan for the Weekend after Thanksgiving next year for a good poultry experience. Trish and many others did a great job setting up and cleaning up. Iowa Blues had a nice table and drawing set up. Poultry supply vendor was there too. I always have a good time there.

10 minutes ago in the snow storm a wild turkey walked through the yard and headed to the back pasture. Lucky to get a few shots of it. Had to try out the camera with a 24x Zoom. It made my day. I am old enough to remember the 1st wild turkeys I saw well over 30 some years ago when they were...

Got home last night from a poultry show / vacation in Florida. The show was held in a big air conditioned building and it was needed due to temps in the mid 80's and lots of sun. I showed 17 birds and had RV with a Cochin variety that had never before earned Cochin breed club points. Same bird...

It was a very good show. Numbers were down to about 1200 total but quality birds still there. Next year we will have the show there the same weekend(Thanksgiving) in the same location (Sharpless Auction Site). I expect 1700 to 1800 birds again next year. I hope everyone makes plans to attend. I...
