    WARNING: Hoovers hatchery

Review from LEJUANA K 1 star 05/16/2023 Bought 20 guinea keets and 8 goslings. 4 guineas were dead in the box on arrival, and the remaining 16 died within 24 hours. I received a full refund for the guineas. The goslings all died also. 1 died within 24 hours so I received a refund. The remaining...

    WARNING: Hoovers hatchery

I get the point that you ordered chicks and got dead birds in the mail. I don’t think it’s a good idea to ship live chicks. But keep trying if you want.

    WARNING: Hoovers hatchery

I don’t think I need to argue that shipping chicks in a box to the point of death is cruel. If you want to financially help support them, go right ahead. Check the better business bureau for Hoovers if you want to negate my sources. I just watched a promotional video of mcmurrays and they were...

    WARNING: Hoovers hatchery

I knew I was taking a gamble ordering shipped hatching eggs. I got 9 out of 16 to hatch. I’d be pretty bummed if I received 7 out 16 chicks dead on arrival. The package was delayed 2 or 3 days by usps. I should be able to maintain a flock from those 9 and hatch my own homegrown eggs from them...

    WARNING: Hoovers hatchery

Risk for the buyer or for the chick? I’m looking at it is risky for the chick to be shipped, not a risk for the customer. The customer ain’t being stuffed in a box.

    WARNING: Hoovers hatchery

I buy fertile eggs locally and shipped. What else do you want to know about them? Personally I don’t think shipping eggs is cruel. I don’t honestly care if it’s 10% or 1% of chicks that die in shipment. I don’t want to gamble with someone’s life.

    WARNING: Hoovers hatchery

Those numbers are actually from a study in the 90s. The article is about events that happened in 2020. Regardless those birds still died during transport. I’m okay if you don’t think it’s cruel. To each their own. I’m fine saying the numbers are 1% die during transport. It’s still cruel IMO for...

    WARNING: Hoovers hatchery

I read enough stories on this forum to know that I didn’t want to order chicks from a hatchery. “One study of long airplane flights revealed that when chicks were delivered to their final destination at 72 hours old (which includes the time spent at the hatchery and all transport times), 11%...

    WARNING: Hoovers hatchery

I consider animals dying a slow death in a box as cruel. Something like 11% die during shipment and 50% perish within a week. If you do a search there’s major single shipments of several thousand chicks dying in transit. It’s not necessary to me. I reckon people had chickens for 1000s of years...

    WARNING: Hoovers hatchery

That’s too bad. This comment probably won’t be accepted well by the byc community, but I think shipping hatchery chicks is extremely cruel.
