I like that. I was thinking of them to go with my two speckled sussex hens - Speckles and Jade - either that or I was thinking Lavender Orpington or Black Copper Maran
I completely agree. I want a rooster that will alert the hens of any danger that comes into the yard.
I live in Central Pennsylvania so we do have mild winters and not too hot of summers. We get some snow but only a few inches - normally not feet.
I have three coops - 2 10x10 coops 1 7x5 coop and a 4x6 coop with lots of roosts and my run is about 1/2 an acre or so and they can roam on my 1 1/2 half acre yard.
I am thinking of adding a new rooster breed to my flock with my order of baby chicks this year.
