Yes! It was just like this only the handles were just single METAL BARS. I don't know what was more dangerous, when the thing was loaded and you couldn't keep up.. or just a couple of ya trying to get it going and the empty chains flying around threatening to take your head off.

No seatbelts or car seats for little ones on school busses either. If someone was standing in the aisle or actin a fool the driver would just hammer the brakes to teach them a lesson and we'd all get knocked around like pinballs as collateral damage.

I'm also old enough to remember riding in the bed of pickups being normal and no seatbelt laws. You could shove as many kids as you wanted in the back seat of a car or ride with them on your lap. And back to smoking... Parents could smoke in those cars full of kids with the windows up and no...
