Yes! It was just like this only the handles were just single METAL BARS.
I don't know what was more dangerous, when the thing was loaded and you couldn't keep up.. or just a couple of ya trying to get it going and the empty chains flying around threatening to take your head off.
We had something worse than that in our city park.
Idk what you called it but it was basicially handle bars that hung off of chains from a pole, several kids could take off running while holding on and you'd eventually catch air and your feet would come off the ground. Then everyone just hung...
No seatbelts or car seats for little ones on school busses either. If someone was standing in the aisle or actin a fool the driver would just hammer the brakes to teach them a lesson and we'd all get knocked around like pinballs as collateral damage.
I'm also old enough to remember riding in the bed of pickups being normal and no seatbelt laws. You could shove as many kids as you wanted in the back seat of a car or ride with them on your lap.
And back to smoking...
Parents could smoke in those cars full of kids with the windows up and no...
And in the grocery store!
And other peoples parents could spank you!
Resteraunts..pharmacies, teachers had smoking lounges..
Yes!
We still have one locally!
