… unless he’s neutered, and can have a girl or two.
The oldest gp I have is five now. She is a little tempermental, but she loves her new boar the best.
By now, I assume you have the gp. You will see the babies kicking, and moving around. Be careful not to squish them though. 😱
Dad can impregnate Mom quickly after birth, but won’t need separated until then. Brothers and sisters need separated when boys are three weeks or 250grams. They will be...
In that case, take them now (it sounds like she has 1-2 weeks before delivering), or just give her a few days after delivering.
Mom will take care of everything food wise. Timothy hay isn’t necessary, nor any special diet other than ensuring enough calories for a few weeks. Extra pellets or...
It is STRONGLY advised that you not rehome them until 6-8 weeks. This is different than separating the baby boars from mom and sisters. Rehoming is too stressful before 6 weeks minimum.
We did a lot of green peppers since they have vitamin C, and are cheap, but celery is such a good source of vitamin C as well, and a lot cheaper. Now that I’m down to five, we will likely do more peppers again. Spring mix is good in a hurry (no cutting), and I feed cucumbers and tomatoes when I...
I can’t find the video I was looking for. Basically, just use a treat and move your hand while saying the word “circles” while making the guinea pig turn circles. Begging is just holding the treat above their head.
Put the hoop down, and hold the treat right at the opening to get her used to the scary new object that wants to kill her. Then put your fingers with the treat a little back so she puts at least one paw through.
Squeak Dreams on YouTube… hang on.
Four guinea pigs are being sold in a few days. I have to drive two hours to the closest exotic animal hospital to have the lone boy fixed. It’s more expensive to fix a small animal because it’s more dangerous. Sooooo if something happens, I have to pay more for a dead animal?
Okay, I...
Are you looking at the rescues (I recommend it)? Also, if you happen to be near Christiansburg, pm me. I have a herd of nine right now, and the littles are ten weeks tomorrow.
Meat Loaf is fine with Dad (I blocked his view of Mom for a few days). Apparently you only let them see Mom if the baby boar is alone.
Speaking of baby boars, two more were born overnight. The birth was unassisted, and the boys expired. Because they weren’t cleaned, I don’t know. I want to let...
“Harden your heart” isn’t a joke. Dad and son are fine, but the poor baby wants his mother, and is crying loudly. Mom was not into his attention, and he’s at the cutoff weight.
