On the white hen. I have chamois Spitzhauben that have come out a kinda dirty off white. It looks as if she has been dust bathing in our redish river sand but she hasn't. I wonder if buff laced polish might do the same?
I think the short legged ones can be done that way as well. I just don't get breeding for those traits when they cause problems. I'm that way about frizzle as well. And some intentualy breed the two together. 🤦♀️
I hear ya on these points. My thing is with the overall community on this. Where breeding some of this breeds results in birds dead in the egg. Like with the short legged ones or even the Arucana with the tufts. It's just sad to promote breeding of such things.
Anyway enough of my misgivings on...
I love crests on chickens but not to the detriment of the bird.
Sorry been keeping theses things in for a while. Every time I think I want to show and I do my research, I come up not wanting to. Happens with dogs, horses, cats, and now chickens.
Lol, I end up pulling at my hair and stepping...
The vault issue was another reason I went with Spitzhauben over polish.
I'm really getting to the point of going by my own rules and forming my own SOP. I'll breed to that and it won't allow for things that inhibit the health and well-being of the chicken.
Kinda tired of the SOP breeders...
Not sure the project color I found for Ameraucanas is based in ewh or not. But they are working on both light and buff columbian and they are looking good so far.
I might message them later to see what has gone into them.
I think he stated the issue was the buff laced is not the same as the solid buff. There for it doesn't have all the necessary genes to achieve what is desired.
I've been shrinking my scope of projects.
Spitzhauben, I'm only doing pure Gold/Chamois spangled now.
Phoenix, I'm only doing pure on silvers.
Ameraucana, I'm only doing pure right now on lavender and blue. I still need to decide on just one. 😔
English Orpingtons, currently it's silver laced...
I'm going to stick to my Spitzhaubens, Ameraucanas, Orpingtons, Phoenix and EE bantam crosses(mixed pot).
Going to have enough trouble trying to create what I want down the road. 🥰
