yes that sounds good. you can spin them a bit but still upright if that makes sense? and candle them before you put them in the egg turner and see how the air cells look.

yes that works. They may still slant but that is fine. As long as the air cell doesn't move all over the egg and doesn't seem free floating I have had luck with hatching them. If they are completely detatched I haven't had luck with them attaching again and they don't seem to develop.

yes if the air cell is down a bit of the side and not perfectly round at the fat side then that is saddled. or if it wiggles a bit. As it is in the incubator they should stop wiggling and setting into place more. it may be down the side some if your incubator has them on the side or it may...

you take the # that hatched and divide it by the # that started. so 30 divided by 40= .75 so 75%. :)

well were the other 2 eggs clear that didn't make it to lockdown or were they quitters? I was told you don't count clears. so if they were clear it would be a 79% hatch rate since the one you lost did hatch so you would count that. If they quit then it would be a 75% hatch rate.

I had 3 chicks hatch on 5/31 so guess technically that is 3 batches for May hatch-a-long. LOL May 4th, May 20th and May 31. The rest of this hatch will be June babies. :)

Set to hatch at anytime that month. A June hatch-a-long is started if you have any due to hatch in June.

The white membrane under the shell is normal, then the other membrane with the veins that you see when you moisten it. Why have you had to help them out? Are they taking longer than 24 hrs after pipping to start to zip? or taking more than an hour once they start zipping?
