Baby Sylvie’s foot seems to have corrected itself overnight and I’ll move them both to the brooder tonight. Just popping them under the heat cave seems to work well when adding similarly aged chickies
One of my girls heard frantic pre-hatch peeping and we stayed up late to watch this soggy bean hatch 😍 Considering my roo colours, it looks like a full D’uccle!
I have a single porcelain D’uccle egg that’s been pipped all day, it’s a rolling and a rocking away and I’m dying of excitement. Hoping it’s pure 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 Not sure how far along the Polish egg with it is, but should be within the week. Some day I’ll remember to label lol
These chicks are super active!!!! I’ve never had such a fun group in the incubator. They were very excited to get into the brooder tonight and I hope they stay this friendly
One last egg to go, it was busily zipping away when I put the kids to bed. I nice mix of blue and black Marans. Wish there’d been a splash 😅 But I’ve got a good selection of lighter WTB and olive eggers just coming into the growout pens, so next year should be fun!
Lockdown tomorrow! Debating giving them to broodies if they hatch, my Cochin and silkies have been very determined sitters. I have 6-7 broodies right now, but only the three that I’m confident will stay broody long enough. Maybe if I give them chicks, they’ll let us use the nest boxes again lol...
A local chicken tender posted a rainbow pack of hatching eggs and had lovely dark browns… Somehow a dozen dark brown eggs ended up in my hands and fell into the incubator! I don’t know what happened 😂
