So my Halloween chicks hatched a day early! Should’ve known, all my chicks hatch on day 20.🤣
I count this group as one hatch, though it was a bit staggered, they started hatching on the 27th. Total chicks hatched out of eggs put in lockdown: 14/15.🥰
Total chicks hatched in this hatch-along: 40😃...
Final tally this hatch 9/10. One was DIS. 3 Polkies/6 Silkies this time. Got two black silkies this go round! Last batch they were all paint. Photo of eight of them in the dryer. One is still in the “hatcher” incubator.😊
Most of the eggs in the second batch of Silkies/Polkies have externally pipped! 😃

I added a second separator basket for the uncontained...
Thought these photos might be useful to others. Just pulled this early blood ring in a DAY 5 egg. A normal developing DAY 5 egg for comparison.🙂
Edited with a better normal photo.
First of the three “failed“ broody chicks hatched today. Both parents are paint in color, little one looks like it’s going to be all black. The other two eggs are about a day behind developmentally, so this one will have to hang with a stuffed animal for now.😊
Also found this cute little mini...

14/15 silkies/polkies hatched in all on the first round.😊
Next is lockdown, today, for the 3 mixed silkie/Marans/RSL eggs my broody was sitting on to test her (she failed...)
She abandoned them at 9 days and they have joined the other eggs in the incubator. Expected to hatch Friday.
