    I'd like to try a hatchery eventually, yes. But my wallet is too tiny right now, so it's cheaper to ask a local farmer to cross some of his birds (provided I know which ones are needed) so I can get fertile eggs or chicks that will give me such pullets. It's not ideal, but better that than no...

    That's sad, it would have been nice to know how to replicate those crosses. Those girls really are gorgeous, snif.

    Can anybody tell me what was potentially used to create these Ameraucana/EE beauties? They're so colorful!

    Long live Ameraucana tuffs! My mom too favors Ameraucanas & EEs immensely, she took one look at them and wanted no other chickens than them in our backyard the first time around xD

    Oh wooow! Brownie has the kind of plumage color that I love! I'm going to take a guess here, and say she's a sex-linked EE, with her parents being a Wheaten Ameraucana rooster over a possible Silver Ameraucana hen. Brownie's neck, back and saddle feathers all make me think of the silver plumage...

    Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think 'splash-laced red' means the hen has red feathers with splash lacing, while a red hen with blue lacing is called 'blue-laced red'.

    I'm going to need a dictionary to navigate all the plumage colors in chickens, at this rate xD

    Ah shoot, sorry for the mishap. I'm no expert at poultry plumage, I saw the slight penciling on my hen's feathers and thought she had a penciled gene ^^;

    That leaves too many likely parents to pinpoint which ones have made him... ahh, the mystery will not crack, it seems. Does the penciling of the partridge gene carry to all offsprings, or is it recessive and absolutely needs two copies to manifest? I have a Welsumer hen at home, and sometimes...

    Thank you! ^^ Esmeralda is a sweetheart, she is very mature and calm. Sally is more bossy, but she lets me pet her when the flock settles for the night. They have unique voices and are inseparable. Not-wyandotte splash-laced red plumage... yup, definitely an EE with the difficulty we have to...

    The lacing on his chest is not Wyandotte lacing?

    I have no experience with my chinese incubator, so I don't want to risk shipped eggs just yet in case I botch the incubation. Thank you though for proposing!

    Your rooster looks like an EE... a sex-linked EE. I see some wyandote lacing on his chest, and he's got alot of gold leakage for a white-ish bird. Silver roo over gold hen, maybe? Or Splash roo over gold hen? I can't say for sure, but it's interesting to guess. I like taking notes of all the...

    Who are spice's parents? (Buff Orpington? Buff chantecler? Buff something else? Buff hen or rooster? What about the Ameraucana side? Blue, Black, Splash, wheaten, blue wheaten, red, white, silver, black ameraucana, hen or rooster?) You have a very pretty hen! <3

    This is Sally, my EE whose father was an Ameraucana barnyard mix and whose mother was a Light Sussex. She lays light green eggs, one of them can be seen on the lower right of my profile picture. I wish I knew what the father's ancestry was. I would like to make more EE with Sally's plumage...
