Could it be humidity? It has been muggy hot here lately.

I would not think those temps would cause a problem. I've seen posts where people hatched eggs that had sit in the refrigerator for a few days. Also store bought refrigerated eggs (only from certain farms that free range). Good luck on the hatch!

I used to have a dwarf cavendish easier to protect when necessary. Supposed to be a good eating variety. I received it from a friend as a baby mid winter so was going to plant the following spring. Daughter over watered it in my absence so no more cavendish. Thought I'd mention in case you...

You've been busy! My oregano stays pretty green all year. It is planted outside my greenhouse and I never protect it. We are zone 8a. I never protect the carrots either except netting because of deer and rabbits. I have had broccoli (Gypsy) and cabbage (Early Jersy Wakefield) heads get burned...

I'm sorry for you and the wife's loss. That kind of stuff always hits me hard. I've got 2 gardens pretty full right now too. Most things are fairly mature now though. I've got broccoli that needs picking right now but it is chilly this morning. What did you plant?

Glad you had no issues with the storm. Much cooler here too after it passed. Got LOTS of rain. Sorry for your loss. :hugs

Yeah, I got chicks but many not fertile eggs. I guess it probably come down to 20 or so hens with one roo that was a gentleman and had favs. He passed at 7 yrs with several hens still by his side.

I was curious about a previous roo I had. He had too many hens and had his favorites. He ate a lot of layer feed because at the time I didn't know any better. Just wondered could excess calcium could have also contributed. He was a good roo but I had to set extra eggs to get a few chicks. I'll...

Oh, thought it may be a bit older. Usually by 6 weeks or so you can make a better guess. Edit Scratch the above. So it is about 6 weeks? I lean to pullet then. I've been in the kitchen all day blanching and freezing beans. Was sooo ready to sit down. I needed coffee! Thought about...

How old is this one? 6+ weeks I'd say female. Small comb and no wattles, looks girly to me.

There's a bit of Irish in my family too. Maybe that's the part that was panting when I was picking beans this week 🤪

80f would feel wonderful right now. Sometimes 75-80 is our low at night but only a few mins and it's on the way back up.

I've been in eastern NC all my life. Still hate the muggy heavy summer air. But YES was so nice to get a spring this year for a change!

Yes it is a pain. But when you do away with the black water tank, add a flush toilet connected straight to septic you not longer have to dump the tank. Just flush away and done. This is not a good idea if you travel place to place as you need the tank. When set up permanently it makes it...

I do not envy you at all. Spent many days under/on top of RV's. I don't do that anymore. Sold the last one last year. Just know seals usually go first. Ask me how I know! Since you are living in it stationary if you have a septic tank close enough and have to drop the black water tank, I...
