Would take a lot of soy sauce and lemon juice to make this a soup. :lau But, seriously, looks like a nice blend for carne asada.

I have some oxtail in the freezer. Made some osso bucco with it and found I was not fond of oxtail. Osso bucco is much better with beef shanks. But, maybe I'll research oxtail soups. My favorite way to search for a recipe is to type in "best" before it. I've gotten some really great recipes...

There is actually a very good beef barley soup recipe somewhere in this thread from a couple years ago. I tried it and it was delicious. I think this is the one: I used the search function on BYC to find it. Upper right corner of page. Easy.

An hour and a half for the roux??? I've never had to stir it that long to get the dark chocolate color. You must be using a lower heat than I am. Or maybe it's because I use butter not oil? Anyway, for me it's a half hour, 40 min tops. This looks like a great recipe. Thanks for sharing it...

That looks like a good broccoli cheese soup! I think I'll try it when I can get to the store again. Not going till after Christmas, for sure. And want to make sure all the ice is melted too.

my potato soup is similar, but I never add ham. I like plain old potato soup! With cream, not milk. Lots of potatoes and onions.

@TOR, I love Thai Curry too! All year actually. Thanks for your recipe! I use the attached recipe for mine, and do not buy Thai curry paste. This way you can make it as hot or mild as you like by tweaking the ingredients.

I think I saw this thread once and then forgot about it. I'll have to start following. We do a lot of good cooking around here, but in all honesty, soup is probably my favorite meal. Any soup is comfort food. When I was in the hospital, OHSU, they had the best mushroom soup. It was the best...
